Founder

Ms.  J. Lara Juanillo  is the founder  and former president and CEO of J. Madison-Bentley (JMB).     She successfully built and led the health care pricing and analytics consulting practice of the firm until 2005.        

Ms. Juanillo  has been in the health insurance and employee benefits field for more than 20 years experience.   Her expertise is health insurance pricing and analytics although she has experience in many areas of insurance operations.      As a Benefits Pricing Consultant, Ms. Juanillo represented  Fortune 500 corporations such as American Airlines, Union Pacific Railroad, Lucent Technologies, Owens Corning, EATON, and many others in premium rate negotiations with insurance companies in 2000-2002.    She has saved clients millions in healthcare premiums through rate negotiations,  reviewed hundreds of rating exhibits , and negotiated with more than 200 insurance carriers nationwide.   In 2000, she was instrumental in developing the first internet reverse auction technology in procurement of healthcare benefits for a Fortune 500 corporation with over 30,000 members.    

Ms Juanillo spent more than 15 years developing and pricing small and large group health insurance coverages and  held various senior underwriting positions with large insurance companies such as CIGNA Healthcare, Blue Cross/Wellpoint, CareAmerica (Acquired by Blue Shield), and United Health Care.    Prior to her transition to the benefit consulting field, Ms. Juanillo was Director of Underwriting, Pacific Region, for United Healthcare.    She was also involved in building three successful start-up HMO and insurance companies in California and Nevada.

Ms. Juanillo completed her Bachelor of Science in Management Program from Pepperdine University.  She is a Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) with the Health Insurance Association of America and a Professional at the Academy of Health Care Management (PAHM).  Ms. Juanillo is also completing her Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Fellow, Academy of Healthcare Management (FAHM) professional designations.    Additionally, she authored  "Health Insurance Pricing Intelligence", a manual published in limited edition in 2002 and marketed through selected health insurance underwriters' associations.    A second edition of this book is scheduled for release in 2007.      Ms. Juanillo  remains  an active Continuing Education Speaker at various health underwriters and employee benefit associations across the country.    

Ms. Juanillo is currently the Vice-President of one of the largest privately held insurance brokerage firms in California and U.S.    She continues to practice in the field of health care underwriting,  pricing and analytics.      Although she  remains as a major  investor in the firm,  she no longer provides any health insurance or consulting advice for J.
